Our Story
Ichabod's Apothecary
Tommie Chadwick’s herbal journey began with her very first memory—at just four years old, she learned to identify plantain, the herb that sparked a lifelong devotion to plant medicine. Raised in a family steeped in herbal tradition, Tommie absorbed wisdom from her grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunts, forming a foundation rooted in generational knowledge and spiritual care.
In her twenties, she deepened her practice through the Master Gardener program and mentorship with wise women in her community, blending hands-on experience with formal education. When faced with a rare genetic disorder, Tommie turned inward—drawing on decades of herbal training to navigate life’s challenges with resilience and grace.
For the past ten years, she has practiced publicly, offering herbal support, education, and empowerment to individuals and communities. Tommie believes that education is the cornerstone of herbalism, and her approach reflects that: she weaves traditional teachings with modern science, honoring ancestral wisdom while embracing evidence-based practice.
Her work is more than a profession—it’s a legacy. Tommie’s unique style bridges past and future, offering herbal care that is intuitive, informed, and deeply rooted in lived experience.
"Herbalism is a fundamental right, and it's essential for all individuals to possess a basic understanding of this nutritional discipline. In today's society, embracing diverse healing and wellness practices is crucial for fostering a healthier and more vibrant world."
